C1 - Staff Training Event in Sweden

  • The first staff training event took place in Errarps School in Angelholm, Sweden. It started on 9 October 2018 and finished on 11 October 2018.

    The schedule of activities:

    Day 1:
    - Introduction to the school, school management, curriculum, syllabi and the host country’s education system
    - Job shadowing in the designated subject field classes / services (special needs kids / talented kids and the like)
    - Reflexive discussions in subject field groups
    - Theoretical or practical input (ex lectures, workshops) from an expert outside the project
    Day 2:
    - Planning and discussions of forthcoming eTwinning activities
    - Co-teaching lessons about integrating ICT into teaching
    - Job shadowing in mixed groups

    Day 3:
    - Comparative didactics focus group discussions
    - Evaluation of the meeting / activities
    - Planning dissemination process
    - Round table dissemination discussions
The shadowing was organized so the visiting teachers can actively take part in usual lessons at the hosting school. The visiting teachers
shadowed in their own subjects field (day 1) but also in other subject fields (day 2). This way the shadowing teachers learned about teaching
approaches in another cultural context in practice. After the job shadowing lessons, the visiting teachers as well as the hosting teachers had
reflexive discussions. In these, the shadowing teachers shared what they had observed while the host teachers helped interpreting the
observations. All involved teachers bnefited from this process by learning from each other.
In our shadowing all through the partnership we will focus more on four topics that concern student centred vs. teacher centred methods in three subject areas. These are:
    - Integrating ICT into teaching
    - Talented students
    - Entrepreneurship and authentic learning
One afternoon was devoted to get professional input by an independent expert who is not a direct participant of the partnership. During this event, the senior lecturer from the municipalities Research and Development Unit talked about a research based discussion tool to explore different teaching practices.
