  • C6 – STAFF TRAINING EVENT

    As part of the Erasmus + project Approaching Better Teaching, from September 13 to September 16, 2021, OŠ don Mihovil Pavlinović Primary School hosted 18 teachers from the partner schools:  Errarps School from the Swedish city of Angelholm, Zespół Szkół from the Polish city of Dobrzejewice, Szerencsi Rakoczi Zsigmond Reformatus Ket Tanitasi Nyelzva Alta School from the Hungarian town of Szerencs.

    The topic of the project is innovative pedagogical methods and teaching techniques that are applied in partner schools. The aim of the project is to analyze and compare teacher-centered approach with student-centered approach in order to find the optimal ratio between these two approaches.

     

    13th September 2021

    Upon arrival, we introduced the guests to the layout of classrooms, cabinets and other school facilities. By presenting the Kanata Student Cooperative, we introduced colleagues from the partner schools to the methods of teaching entrepreneurship and authentic learning. After that, the visiting teachers were instructed to follow the classes in small groups – job shadowing. Swedish teachers held a lesson in the seventh grade. Through presentations, videos, songs and Kahoot quiz, they presented their country, its tradition, customs and music to the seventh graders. Finally, by handing out Swedish sweets, they clearly showed the students the meaning of the term Swedish fika.

    14th September 2021

    The second day began with a working meeting of principals during which they analyzed and compared the education systems of partner countries, strategic education documents, working conditions in our schools, pedagogical methods used in teaching, school management methods and other important issues. Teachers in small groups, respecting epidemiological measures, attended classes. At their meetings, the project coordinators agreed on the details of the final report and eTwinning. A workshop was held about worksheet tool, Worksheet Crafter. Hungarian teachers held a class for eighth graders during which they presented Hungarian tradition, customs and culture. As part of getting to know Croatian culture and gastronomy, a visit to Makarska was organized for visiting teachers.

    15th September 2021

    The third day began with the guests attending classes. Polish teachers held a lesson after which the fifth graders knew more about Poland, Polish customs, traditions and culture. Visiting teachers were given the opportunity to comment on what they saw, ask questions and ask for explanations in digital form. In the afternoon, a hiking tour was organized along Biokovo to the top of Vošac and a visit to the popular tourist destination SkyWalk, where spectacular and unforgettable photos were taken. Guests learned more about the traditional culinary offer at a great local restaurant.

    16th September 2021

    The last day of the training event took place in a working atmosphere. The guests attended the classes and the coordinators prepared the end of the project. All teachers together, through conversation, did an evaluation of the meeting and the whole project. Certificates of participation were distributed to participants. After a traditional Dalmatian lunch, we headed to Split where we gave guests the opportunity to get to know Diocletian's Palace, the waterfront and the old part of Split.

    We said goodbye to the guests with the words: TO BE CONTINUED!
