Experiments Club

  •

Our young scientists have the opportunity to have hands-on experience on scientific topics drawn from Biology, Chemistry and Physics on a weekly basis. The students have the option of working on their own or in a group and learn how to handle various apparatus while conducting their experiments.

Over the course of the semester we have observed amongst others, the effects of osmosis using cucumbers and brine solutions, we have extracted copper from its oxide using high heat with the aid of Bunsen burners, we have measured the gravitational field strength of our planet using a pendulum and the list goes on.

Students enjoy their time in the scientific experiments club since they combine their natural drive to test things out along with learning important experimental techniques and safety procedures which will give them a head-start in their later science courses.

Moreover, as students apply the scientific method by ensuring fair tests and controlling variables, they are essentially honing their critical thinking skills. Thus they can benefit from the club even if they do not pursue a career in sciences later on.

One of the reasons that many animals instinctively play is to learn. We humans are no different. By conducting experiments, our students do exactly that; they play and they learn.
