LTT in Conwy
This LTT was hosted by Ysgol Porth y Felin and led by head teacher Mr. Paul Thomas.
It took place between June the 3rd and 7th, 2019. 15 teachers from partner countries travelled and participated in the mobility.
On the first day our visitors were welcomed at school by the children with a service of singing. Delegates from each country introduced themselves and their school and country in front of the whole school community. The group had a tour of the school and visited classrooms.
In the afternoon we had a cultural walking tour of Conwy castle and the town.
The second day was our ACE Conference at school. We were lucky enough to have the Children’s Commissioner for Wales, Sally Holland, to open the conference and give an insight to what Wales does on the ACE agenda. Then, good practise was shared from Conwy county. Nia Rees Williams. the lead for health and wellbeing in Conwy, gave an insightful presentation. Ysgol Aberconwy staff and pupils then presented about their work with personal and social development. It was then the partner countries turn to present and share good practise from their own establishments.
The third day was spent in school visiting classes and sharing good practise with IT in workshops. During the evening we had a traditional Welsh evening of music, food and dance which the group thoroughly enjoyed.
Day four was all about learning and experiencing Welsh culture and national heritage. Guest teachers were guided by Welsh teachers and students to enjoy a sightseeing tour of some places in the county of Conwy. This included visits to sights within the county that have been identified as sector leading with ICT.
On the final day we were treated to a goodbye assembly by school pupils. Time was then spent as the project group to evaluate the visit, answer any questions and clarify thing looking forward
