    SID - DBI

    In our school this year we are going to have:

    - some special IT lessons and class lessons (February)

    - some exhibitions and posters on our school corridors (February)

    - lectures in WSB- University of Security (in Gdańsk (5th February)

    - a meeting with a police officer (6th February)

    - panel discussion with invited experts on the topic of Internet Hatered Speech (7th February)

    - a lecture by a specialist during Erasmus+ project meeting in Poland (March)

    On the 5th February grade 3 students of our school took part in a series of lectures at University of Security in Gdańsk. The topics were CPR-training, first aid, self-defence and cybersecurity.

    On 6th February there was a meeting of first&second grade students with police officers.The talk and discussion revolved around cybersecurity, law and regulations in Poland as well as fake news.

    On 7th February there was a discussion panel at our school. The experts invited and present were the county executive, city council representatives, police officers and psychologist. Subjects of the discussion were hate speech, fake news, Polish law and regulations, our on-line identity and image.

    The questions, among others were:

    • Is aggression in public space a new phenomenon? And does it happen only in Poland?
    • When does a message become hate speech?
    • What is constructive criticism and how to distinguish it from the destructive one?
    • What is the source of hate speech and what is the aim of it?
    • Do stereotypes encourage the hate speech?
    • Do the political parties live on hate? How can it be changed?
    • What is fake news? Can it also be called a kind of hate speech?
    • How does the hated person feel? Who wants to feel like that? Let's change the perspective.
