Round and Round the Circle

This is an easy one to start with.  Just to loosen up the brain cells , just to get you thinking, perhaps you might want to become creative. Maths is creative.

Start with an analogue clock face but hour hands only.

Replace  12 with  0

Join the numbers first in 1s

then try 2s, 3, and so on

Keep drawing lines until you get back to where you started

Extend it to include 7s....8s....9s.......10s.......11s

Is something interesting happening

describe the patterns that emerge!

What shapes are the same?    why?   

Can you see a connection between the number in which you are counting around the circle and the number of sides in the shape you are making?
