    There are several places with memorials of World War II victims in Gliwice.Some are stone monuments situated by the town streets connected with war camps that existed in Gliwice during this time.Those were subcamps of Oświęcim concentration camp and civil 

    prisoners  worked in nearby factories like coal mines and steelworks.Prisoners came from different countries.There,also. were some small camps for P.O.W. In January 1945 when russian troops forced their way to Berlin,Germans evacuated prisoners from Oświęcim concentration camp crossing Gliwice. A lot of prisoners died on the way suffering from hunger and severe winter cold weather.They were buried in cementeries but their way was marked with a monument...

    Gliwice was a German town and russian soldiers had lost their lives during a fight before germans were defeated.They have their own ,,russian cemetery''.

    There are lots of interesting things from World War II. 22.2. 1944 crashed near the village Bukovec american bomber B-24 Liberator. It has been shot down by german airplane. In the village Bukovec is memorial for soldiers who died in plane crash.

        

    In Holýšov was the concentration camp. It was a work camp because there was ammunition factory and germans needed some people to work here. Many people died here of hunger or cold.
