    Project kit description:In this project, students created a common story. They wrote together the plot of the story, collaborating and communicating via Twinspace. They used strategies to discuss both within the class than with partners (brainstorming, blog, google docs, collaborative whiteboards,..)

    The story talks about some groups of students (partners' students) who took off from the Earth for a school trip. Unfortunately, they left alone because teachers didn't manage to leave for different reasons. So they had to deal with many problems to survive on a new planet: the eTwinning planet!

    They solved their problems doing scientific experiments. The innovation in this project is the fact that creativity (inventing a story) works hand in hand with reality (scientific experiments) and that parents took part in the project actively inventing the end of the storyduring meetings held in each country (one end for country) and doing experiments with their children in parents meetings properly organized for them.

    Objectives:

    Develop different competences:

    -communication in the mother tongue within the group of classmates, collaborating and using strategies to motivate them to say thier thoughts and ideas

    -communication in English: they had to listen to the partners videos (presentations, scientific experiments and games to understand their task), they played games with partners and they exchanged messages in the Twinspace; they had to asnwer to the evaluation form

    -ICT competences: everything was made online and with ICT tools, so they created games for smart boards, presentations, they took videos and photos, they wrote blogs,...

    -scientific competences: scientific experiments have been part of the plot so they discovered the scientific method and had a lot of tries analyzing, comparing data and thinking of a explanation of the events

    -learn to learn competence: peers tutoring was used as a strategy together with group work; the planning of the project was made by students and thanks to their suggestions

    -entrepreneurship: they suggested ideas, topics, experiments and realized experiments by themselves suggesting them to their teachers and to the partners

    Process:

    -Partner teachers decided the main idea of the project : the creation of a creative story and scientific experiments (a group of students leave for the space and land on a new planet). Then students from each country developed a part of the story and proposed to partners at least one experiment to try. Italy started and the others continued. All students brainstormed their ideas and voted in a democratic way the best ones.

    -As the students of the story have to survive on the new planet, they had to do scientific experiments so each country suggested one or more experiments (gravity, permeability, filtration, distillation, Earth rotation, floating materials, density, growing seeds, reflection about planets weather). Partners students watched the videos and photos with the explanation of the experiments and did the same. They learnt how to use the scientific method

    -Students parents, in meetings in each country, worked collaboratively in groups inventing the end of the story (one end per country). They also did experiments with their children and played with the story plot.

    Outcomes:

    Students and teachers prepared some outcomes:

    -a story sack with materials to play with the story (memory game form Poland, astronaut paper doll form Italy, planets weather board game from Greece, Who is who game from Spain)

     

    - common collaborative story files (the first is all partner students work, the second parents' ending.)

    -an experiments booklet with all partners contribution
