From 21 to 23 May, 24 students and 10 teachers from 5 European countries visited Naukšēni Municipality Secondary School - from IES Gabriel Miró School in Orihuela, Spain, IPSSAR Borsellino School in Palermo, Italy, Fjölbrautaskóli Suðurnesya School in Reykjanesbær, Iceland, I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Stanisław Wyspiańskiego in Shubin, Poland and the project coordinator school Andrássy György Catholic Business Academy, in Eger, Hungary. It was the third mobility of the Erasmus + project “National Prides in a European Context”, which aimed to introduce visitors to our country's prides.
Day 1 - the participants were introduced to Naukšēnu novada vidusskola, the town Naukšēni, our students told them about the intangible heritage of human memory - The Baltic Way- UNESCO Documentary heritage, Baltic Song and Dance Celebrations – UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Cabinet of Folksongs or Dainu skapis- UNESCO Memory of the world list. In the afternoon the guests visited Industrial heritage site Ķoņu Dzirnava. In the evening the participants had a National evening where they learned about traditions, songs, dances and tried some national treats.
Day 2 - the participants went to Riga where they had a guided walking tour around Old Riga -UNESCO World heritage site. In the afternoon - the National Library where they saw The Cabinet of folksongs or Dainu skapis. On the way back home there was a short stopover on the coast of the Baltic Sea - our natural pride.
Day 3 - the participants visited Skaņaiskalns Nature Park. In the afternoon they worked in groups documenting the impressions in the form of photographs on the topics "Memory of Humanity", "History", "Nature" and "Lifestyle", compiling photos and using the Microsoft Windows PhotoStory 3 application they created a 3-minute film entitled "National Prides in a European Context - Latvia". On the last night they participated in the School annual reporting concert with a song "Bēdu manu lielu bēdu " and a dance "Plaukstiņpolka" performed by all Erasmus participants.
