Learning Activities in Alcobendas

  • The third learning activities took place in Alcobendas, Spain, from October 15 to 19, 2018.

The 1st day started with a welcoming activity "Meet&Bingo" where, through questions and answers, students were able to know each other a little bit better. It was a pleasant and funny moment.

The official opening of the week took place in the school's auditorium where the principal, the project coordinator from Spain  and a parents' representative welcame all the participants. Then we watched a musical moment presented by the school's music class. Each group was introduced by the host country and one student from each country shared a powerpoint with information about his/her country.

After a coffee break offered by the school in the "cafeteria" we had a guided visit throughout the school that ended in the Erasmus+ Club with a presentation of some Robotic projects.

The morning ended with a walk to the Alcobendas' Town Hall where the Education Counsellor and the Mayor were pleased for this initiative, considering it beneficial for Alcobendas' technological development.

The work day finished with a lunch in the school's gym.

In the 2nd day, Robotic workshops and competitions occupied the whole morning!

The students were divided in groups with participants of each country. After being taught how to build and programm the different robots, the groups competed with each other. There were three sessions. In spite of the language barriers, it was really pleasant to see how the students interacted and learnt together.

The 3rd day started with a 3D Design and Printing workshop at school. The students worked in groups and created their own keychain that were printed later on.

In the centre of Madrid students and teachers had the opportunity of visiting the 'Nosotros Robots' a temporary exhibition in Fundacion Telefónica. After having lunch in Gran Via we all head to Alcobendas to visit the Muncyt - National Museum of Science and Technology, where we also participated in a workshop on electricity. It was a very enriching day.

The fourth day began with a bus trip to Toledo, a city 70 km from Madrid. On arrival we find an ancient city bordered by medieval stone walls and doors. We went through narrow streets full of history, passing through churches and temples of different religions, St. Thomas Church, Santa Maria Synagogue and Toledo Cathedral. Afterwards we had lunch and did some shopping in the Plaza Mayor market.

The morning of the fifth day began in the city of Madrid with a visit to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and the Real Madrid Museum. Then we did a little tour of Madrid by bus. Already in the center of the city, the students divided into groups and visited the most emblematic places, being guided by their hospitable colleagues. As a challenge, students and professors took selfs in several places: Plaza de Cibeles, City Hall, Puerta de Alcalá, Fuente de Neptuno, Museo del Prado, Atocha Station, Spanish Parliament, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Royal Theater, Palacio Real and Almudena Cathedral. After lunch in the city center, the students returned to Alcobendas.
