Learning KIT

  • The project consists of a prototype of a house where its environment is controlled automatically. The project was divided into themes that were distributed by various groups of students.

THEME 1 - Check the door openingWhen the button is pressed, the buzzer sounds (buzzer ring simulation), after a certain time the door opens through the servo motor (about 90 degrees), it waits again for a time interval and then the door the servo motor (returns to the starting position). The door opens outwards instead of inward due to the reduced interior space. The yellow control led lights up every time the button is pressed, and we know that the buzzer has rung. The LCD shows "door opens" or "door closes" according to their events.

THEME 2 - Controlling people entry
When passing through the ultrasonic sensor, in the corridor after the door, an entrance is detected, the buzzer emits a sound and blue control led lights, indicating that something has passed the entrance aisle. The LCD shows "Input" whenever the ultrasonic detects something.

THEME 3 - Check temperature and humidity
The location of the DHT11 sensor is monitored at temperature and humidity level. When the temperature is above 23 ° C the DC motor is activated in order to move the fan to it. The fan will run until the temperature returns to below 23 ° C. Once again a control LED lights up, which in this case is the red led, informing that the fan is cooling the place. The LCD always shows the temperature and humidity values. In the current project there is no process to change the humidity, only if it registers its value.

THEME 4 - Control the luminosity of the house (relation between natural light, skylight, and artificial light)
In the place where there is a skylight, there is a LDR sensor, which allows to control the luminosity of the zone. The LDR sensor measures the brightness value in%. When the brightness is less than 70%, a piranha LED (light) lights due to the need to illuminate the room, and the green control led lights up, informing you of this situation. The LCD always indicates the brightness values, and if the piranha LED is on or off, "LED" or "S / LED". The piranha LED was placed in a space other than the LDR so as not to interfere with the brightness measurement.

THEME 5 - Information for LCD
Information about the various events is displayed on the LCD whenever any sensor detects the desired one. The values of temperature, humidity and brightness are continuously displayed, not just when the respective sensor detects something.

THEME 6 - Construction of the house and the necessary mechanisms
The structure of the house was designed and built to distinguish the various control points. A fan was built in the 3D printer with dimensions appropriate to the installation location, from an existing model on the internet.
