Outdoorweek in Germany: Camping on Ith.

The hosting school provides a camp on the hill ith, a mountan range at Weserbergland, since 10 years. In the southern part is the campingground, founded by DAV (Deutscher Alpenverein), which has only poor sanitary facilities and a shelter for food storing.

This camp is challanging for our students, especially because of:

- erecting the camp with different tents (frame tents, personal tents)

- erecting a fireplace, collecting wood

- light a campfire, preparing food at the campfire (Stockbrot)

-preparing food in the field kitchen

- orientation in the nature

lots of these challenges cannot meet alone, the students expire an increase of self-esteem  through working together and archieve goals together with their friends. Easy causal relations  create new learning experiences. Al in all they get to know how the importance of teamwork.

Besides the different daily strukture, following ourtdooactivities are planned:

- hiking in Weserbergland

- exploring the Rothesteinhöhle (Cave)

- Schwimming in a natural lake nearby

- climbing at natural rocks  

exspecially climbing gives the studets the possibility to grow across their boarders and gain confidence in their performance. Climbing appeals to all of our senses and is a holistic movement. 

The technical support between the person who belay and the climber requires  a low struktured communication, which is very responsive for our students. 

The following value is added by this activity:

Non of the other school can offer a Campside that relates obviously  a lack of everyday luxury items in combination with an outdoor education, especially climbing. The project related evaluation and reflexion with the partnerschools helps the hosting school to improve and extend their offer.
