23th april, Sant Jordi day
The Sant Jordi legend tell that there was a dragon in a village that ate some people and animals every day. One day, the dragon wanted to eat the princess.The knight Sant Jordi saved her and killed the dragon.From the dragon's blood grew a rose and the knight Sant Jordi in love to the princess gave her the rose to the princess
For this reason,every year on 23th april, men give a rose to women, and the women give a book to men. Moreover,this day the children in our school walk in the streets to see all the stalls of roses and books. Also in our school make a rose for their mothers.
In Catalonia most of people don`t celebrate Valentine's day, the loving's day is Sant Jordi's day.

The "Old Lent" is a grandmother who has seven legs, because seven weeks are missing to the Easter. We cut one leg each week and whwn the Old Lent hasn't legs we are in Easter day
The MONA DE PASQUA is a typical easter cakee. The catalan tradition says the godfathers give away the Mona de Pasqua to their kidreys

Here are our activities about carnival in Greece:
In the end of carnival (czech MASOPUST) we have a fat thursday, when we sould eat everything especialy fat foods.
But we know, that fat foods isn´t so healthy, we dicided, that we join tradition and helath.
So we baked (not fried like in traditional recipies writing) our doughnuts.

Our traditional carnival games
One game is with a broom, all kids go around, one is on the midle with a broom, when music changes, he or she should very quicly find a pair. Who will stay alone dances with a broom.
The second one is with a hat. Children pass a hat on a naighbour´s had, when a music will stop, somebody with a hat ona had must go out from a circle.

Holiday of three Kings in Czech Republic is the end of Christmas time. After this holidday we clean up christmas trees.In our preschool christian´s class makes the rounds other classes and tell about Jesus birth and on our doors write blessing C+M+B (in latin Christus mansionem benedicat)for good new year. From this day starts carnival.

11 NOVEMBER Independence Day
November 11th is one of the most important national holidays in Poland.
It was established to commemorate Poland's regaining independence in 1918 after 123 years of partition. On that day the First World War ended, the German troops withdrew from Poland and Jozef Pilsudski led the government.
When the autmn comes, in Czech republic an in other places in Europe ripen apples. We give them to our traditional and favourite cake which we call "štrudl"
