Promotion of the project at school

  • PROMOTION OF THE PROJECT

One of the key ideas of our project “more CAKES – more HELP” is to promote our project and the idea behind it at our school, in our town and community, to the local authorities, and among the parents, friends and relatives of our students.

Below you will find some ideas how to promote our project:

For the promotion of social responsibility in our community, it is essential for our project to inform and motivate people to join in and support our venture. To achieve this aim, we could publish articles in the school bulletin or inform the community about our project in the local newspaper.

Another way to promote our project is through multi-media, since most of the people use social networks like Facebook or visit the school homepage to inform themselves about the school activities. By publishing short summaries and executive outlines of the project as well as by informing regularly about the progress of the project work, we can create a connection between the community and our charity project.

It might be of interest for people to get first-hand information about the project activities from the students themselves. Let the pupils e.g. write reports on their project activities and publish them together with photos of the project work on your school homepage or on Facebook to get them involved in the project work and to make them feel responsible for the outcome of it.

Another approach would be to activate the students of your project group by giving them creative assignments such as the creation of posters which could be displayed at your school. In addition, the pupils could also produce short video clips since effective communication is essential to successful project management.

It might be also helpful to inform the parents about the project and the idea behind it on a personal basis, e.g. at parents meetings or by setting up an information desk at school events. By informing parents and community members personally about the purpose of the project, it is possible to gain their understanding and to win their support for the project work.

Feedback is essential for good project management. To involve students and parents in our project and to give them a chance of participating, it could be of use to create a forum where they can propose ideas and suggestions as well as points of criticism and advices. This could be accomplished, for example, by an actual letter box in the school building as well as a digital mail box linked to the school website or via Facebook.

Networking and connectivity are considered vital for the implementation and realization as well as for the promotion of complex projects. Thus, it might be beneficial to offer other outsiders the possibility to share their promotion and to contribute to our project work. By creating a network with external institutions and by linking our project with other schools or social projects, we can achieve a greater publicity.

Furthermore, we would suggest the usage of the mother tongue aside from English for the purpose of promotion and fostering communication and common understanding.

Last but not least, it may be suggested that all schools involved in the project create subfolders for their project contributions on the eTwinning webpage. By adding own work results such as photos, videos, drawings, reports, recipes etc. from the actual project work to these "country subfolders", other project members could be inspired and motivated to follow the given example.
