About the project

  • "More CAKES – more HELP"

    SEPTEMBER

    1. NOMINATE AN INDIVIDUAL / AN ORGANISATION for receiving help (1 for school)

Choose who you are going to help (the poor, the disabled, refugees, somebody in developing countries or war affected areas, an institution, a project….).

Define why you are going to support them (give specific reasons).  You can use a designed worksheet / poster to present the ideas (Worksheet: “name, reason - why, amount of money needed, a photo….)

There are more classes at school and they will have different ideas.

Each class can discuss who they are going to help and present their worksheet (mentioned above). A school exhibition / presentation can be held and all students together vote who will receive help (using tricider, survey monkey…). Involve your colleagues here, too.

    1. PROMOTE THE PROJECT at school, in the area, in the town so parents, relatives, friends, local authorities know about the activity and might support you (an article, a school website, an online, poster, parents meeting, make a video clip….)

Promote the project in your country and in other countries using eTwinning platform or other channels.

    DECEMBER-JANUARY

    1. ORGANISE AND MANAGE STUDENTS: they will be responsible for bringing cakes, cookies to school, offering them on a CAKE DAY. Classes can rotate to bring cakes. Make a schedule.

    1. OFFER CAKES AND RAISE MONEY: choose when you want to have a CAKE DAY at school. On a cake day students offer cakes during a break / breaks. To get a cake students donate a little amount of money for a cake. Collect the money and keep them safely at school. Keep a record of it weekly to see how you progress. Define the period of holding a cake day (Nov – May).  The aim of the project is to teach students responsibility and make them used to helping and volunteering. Therefore we need a longer period of time, not just one “instant action”.

           7. ORGANISE INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS DAY (5th December).
