PORTUGAL
1- Activities with JA Portugal
Founded in 2005 The Junior Achievement Portugal focuses on three main pillars: Education to Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Skills for Employability.
Junior Achievement is the most important and the oldest non-profit organization in the world. It aims at the education of youngsters in the fields of entrepreneurship, citizenship, ethics, financial literacy, economy, businesses and career development.
Since its foundation in 1919, its programmes have helped students to evaluate their own personal qualities, their interests and values and understand/be aware of the benefits of education. It has also helped them to explore different career choices, and to manage both personal and business finances.
JA works in partnership with companies and educators. The companies provide volunteers who implement the programme. In this case the volunteer was a bank clerk from Montepio. The sessions took place during extracurricular activities.
