Durağan Anadolu Lisesi - SİNOP (Partner School)

Sinop is one of the 81 provinces of Turkey.  It is located at the most northern point of the Black Sea Region at the most narrow section of a peninsula.  It consists eight districts besides the center.The city provides unbelievable beauties to its visitors with the beaches, forests and historical structures.There are many works that carry the traces of various civilizations in the city like castles, temples, churches, mosques, madrasahs, caravanserais, baths, bridges, tombs, fountains and rock tombs.

According to a study conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute, people living in Sinop are the happiest in Turkey.

Durağan is a town and district of Sinop. It locates on the rout of famous silk road.The name of the town is an altered version of the name of a building from 13th century for overnight stay of caravans, Durak Han, literally "station house" in Turkish. It has many historical and natural beauties. Durak Han, rock graves and Buzluk cave are most famous tourist attractions besides forests,rivers and dams.Its population is about 8 thousand and many inhabitants are mostly farmers practicing subsistence agriculture, public officers and retired people. Farmers mostly grow rice.Durağan is an easily accesable city. There are intercity bus services to most cities in Turkey and the nearest airport is in Sinop 110km away from Durağan.

Our school was founded in 2005. There are over 150 students (aged 14-19) and nearly 20 teachers. The school structure consists of a science laboratory, a multipurpose hall, 9 clasrooms and directory rooms. We study in  basic sciences including physical and social sciences. Maths, Turkish, Geography, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English are the main courses that we take. We choose the courses according to the subject we wish to study at university and we have university entrance exams at 12th grade. Every year, our friends get into various universities around Turkey. And last year, our school came first in the province with the percentage of graduates attending university.We attend various activities and competitions throughout the year. We organise field trips to universities and other important places.

Fight Against Discrimination and Racism is our first Erasmus+ project and we are so happy to take part in this project.
