8th TPM in UK - 3 - 5 April 2019

  • This was a very busy meeting for all participants. The project co-ordinators took responsibility for completing a thorough evaluation of the project. We agreed that we had all learned many lessons from the project and that all schools had imrpoved the teaching of STEAM subjects and increased the interest of girls in STEAM subjects. The project work has become embedded and will have an impact on learning for many years to come.

All schools have developed new relationships with universities and organisations which will enable further work connected to STEAM.

Many teachers took the challenge of teaching at Howes Primary School. Lessons were taught to all classes from Reception (age 4) to Year 6 (age 11). Although this was a daunting task for all project partners, they came prepared with interesting lessons. The students were extremely excited to be taught by teachers from so many different countries. A big thank you to the teachers who participated in this.

Teachers then had training at the Disruptive Media Learning Lab at Coventry University. They learned how to programme location based learning games using the Beaconing platform. This was an exciting end to the teacher development part of the project.

Finally some schools were able to visit Bletchley Park, home of the Enigma codebreaking machine.

What an action packed few days! Thanks to everyone for their active participation in such a busy meeting.

And here are some photos of the meeting.
