The game is a fundamental activity of preschoolers. Children play only 2-3 hours a day, but games are essential in the training of their new skills. They totally involve the children, with the most evolved resources, stimulate development, the effort of improving. Thus, games contribute also to the development of the possibilities of systematic learning and work. Due to the role they have in children’s life, their educational resources and the diversity of their occurances, games can be used by the adults as a method, process or way of organizing the educational process in the kindergarten.
Eduard Claparede said that ”the game is life itself”.
Games become the main way of organizing the activities for preschoolers. ”To learn” doesn’t mean for them the opposite of ”to play”. Games are present in the institutional environment of kindergarten, and will be present in all social environment where children grow up. Actually, to play a game is not just ”playing” which is unimportant and unresponsible.
