Greek Christmas Carols
(Peloponesian)
Christ’s Birth, the Lord’s Birth
The first holiday of the year
Come out, see and learn
That Jesus is born.
He’s born and raised
In honey and milk,
Lords eat the honey,
And Melissa is what
Ladies wash their hair with.
Lady, with your beautiful neck,
And your beautifully-shaped eyebrows,
When you’re dressing up
To go to church,
Your face is the sun
And the moon is your arms
And the clear morning star Is the ring.
We haven’t come here
To eat and drink,
But just because we love you
It’s you we’ve come to see.
Give us the roaster
Asa well as the hen,
Give us five or six eggs
To go next door then.
