    types of data by Guilhem, Nathan et Julie

    There are two types of data :
    --> Numerical data: as the name suggests, these are numbers with which we can calculate an average or a median.
    --> categorical data: these are not numbers, most often they are words and you can't calculate much with them, just frequencies and mode.

    A classification of the data collection methods, Anton Severina

    A. Depending on the population in the study:

    - exhaustive: data are collected on all entities of the target statistical population. This type of collection is often not possible because the costs could exceed the study budget (clinical studies) or lead to the destruction of the population (pharma-biological studies);

    - sample type: data are collected on the subjects of a representative sample of the target population;

    B. Depending on the duration of data collection:
    -transversal type: applies when collecting data about subjects at a given time of the study;

    Types of data by Severina

    Data collection in statistical studies when collecting data shall take into account:
    - object and type of study;
    - time allocated to the study;
    - allocated material, financial and human resources;
    - ways of accessing data and choosing subjects.
    - procedures and protocols used.

    Data collection, in statistical studies, is an essential step according to both the volume of resources and the time allotted.
