SPLIT is the largest city in Dalmatia, the second largest in Croatia (about 180 thousand inhabitants). It is located on the Adriatic coast, in central Dalmatia, on the Split - Marjan peninsula. Surrounded on three sides by the sea, Split is also marked by the mountains Mosor, Kozjak and the hill Marjan, one of the most important city symbols. It is surrounded by the islands of Brac, Hvar, Solta and Ciovo. The Roman emperor Diocletian in the 4th century AD. built a palace on the peninsula, near the Roman city of Salona. During the 1700s, the Palace became a city, which today attracts with its tradition, history, beauty of natural and cultural heritage. Diocletian's Palace and the historical core of Split have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979. Since we have a rich heritage and beautiful coast and islands, tourism is really developed. as nation, we love sports and music. Our traditional music genre is klapa (a capella singing).
