  • TITLE
    Healthy food in Europe
    ABOUT THE PROJECT
    First of all, the proposal stems from the need found in the students to broaden their horizons and cultural experiential. This project want to be an opportunity opening multicultural and, at the same time, an opportunity to enhance the students cultural identity through the exchange and comparison with other cultures. Therefore, the aim is to create a virtual community to share information and experiences on their territory, especially on aspects related to the specialization of their school. Then, each school will choose some regional food (PDO or PGI products) and investigate them from the health-nutritional point of view (the most significant molecules contained in the food and its health benefits). To realize a grow up opportunity for all students involved in the project, we will try to realize an inclusive didactic, to involve all students, also that most problematic and listless students.
    AIMS
    To enhance students cultural identity and at the same time to develope a European community spirit
    To investigate some regional food (PDO or PGI products) from the health-nutritional point of view and to understand the importance of a healthy diet
    To improve communication level in English language and science, ICT and teamwork skills of all students
    To stimulate creativity
    To increase the use of ICT and inclusive strategies in the didactic practice and to create an interdisciplinary and multinational teamwork
    WORK PROCESS
    The project will be developed during 2015/2016 scholar year.
    Task 1
    To make a presentation of students and teachers by a game in which each group must discover the identity of another group components
    Task 2
    To make a short presentation about own school, town and surrounding, landscape and climate of our region.
    Task 3
    To list PDO and PGI products of own region.
    To choose one-two products to investigate botanical characteristic and chemical composition and to deepen the most significant molecules contained in the food and its health benefits.
    To make a video and/or videoconference.
    Task 4
    After seeing the work of other countries, each have to investigate and reflect about these questions: Do we know typical regional food of the other countries? Are they sold in our market? Do we have similar products? With the same nutraceutical molecules?
    To make a videoconference to share results.
    Task 5
    Each school will send a own product to other schools by mail.
    Into multinational groups, students will prove to invent a recipe including different products examined in tasks 3. 
    Task 6
    To evaluate the project, also by a quiz.
    To realize a movie including parts of all partners.
    To share on web the principal phases of the project.
    After almost all tasks, students must share their products and they have to compare and identify differences and similarities between countries. Also, students will be stimulate to manifest their curiosity and what they would like to deepen about the other countries. 
    It will be stimulate the interaction between students by chat, emails, on the forum...
    It will be use several web tools (padlet, powtoon, thinglink,...).
    EXPECTED RESULTS
    Production of documents on the topics discussed.
    An improvement in English, science, ICT and social skills.
    A greater awareness of the excellent food of own region.
    A better understanding of the other European countries and a greater community spirit.
