Red Team: Cyberbullying

  • Cyberbullying is bullying with the use of digital technologies. It can take place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms and mobile phones. It is repeated behaviour, aimed at scaring, angering or shaming those who are targeted.

Teenagers often do not tell anyone that they are threatened and blackmailed because they are afraid of being laughed at and of being put out of the "pack".

Bullies often threaten by pretending to joke and for young people it is not always clear to understand where the joke ends and where the crime begins.

International organizations such as Unicef and European Union are also dealing with this big problem.

Cyberbullying can occur in many forms, which can be divided into different types and, in some cases, with areas of overlap between them:

    • flaming
    • harassment
    • cyberstalking
    • denigration
    • impersonation
    • exclusion
    • happy slapping
    • sexting
