FORAVE – ASSOCIAÇÃO PARA A EDUCAÇÃO PROFISSIONAL DO VALE DO AVE is a vocational/technical private school located in Vila Nova de Famalicão, one of the most industrialized councils of the Ave Valley, in the North of Portugal.
Established in 1990, FORAVE has level 5 courses in the areas of Company Management, Industrial Maintenance, Electronics and Automation, Polymer Processing Technology and Food Quality Control.
FORAVE´s main aim is the preparation of qualified young and adult students to answer the demands of the changing world of work not only in our own region/country but also at an international level.
For this reason, the school management considers the participation in Erasmus + projects a very important step in students’ educational and professional path and has supported the school involvement in this type of projects (students ‘exchanges and
work placements abroad) since 2003.
We believe their our students must be autonomous in their learning process, creative, flexible, and cooperative; they must develop their critical thinking, face problems as challenges and create solutions. Sharing experiences and good practices with European partners, in different contexts and cultures, is an important way to develop all these skills. While participating in these projects, students can improve their foreign language and ICT skills; their teamwork abilities and their ability to solve problems and
make decisions. They also have the chance to contact with the real world of work through workshops and conferences with professionals from companies and through short job shadowing periods.
FORAVE has partnerships with local enterprises and associations (we have around 20 associated partners from our region) which are a great source of know-how not only for our staff and students but for our European partners as well.
Our school has cooperated, since its creation, with other schools, higher education institutions and local companies to promote the exchange of best practices among teachers and to provide students with work placements and on-the-job training in their area of expertise.
FORAVE has been involved in several European projects since 2003, which has allowed us to promote teachers and students´ exchanges and internships in several European countries, and we were granted an Erasmus+ VET Mobility Charter. In addition, FORAVE also receives students from European partners to have their WBL or traineeships in local companies.
FORAVE is also a founding member, and board member, of INNOTECS, an international organisation for deans and directors of Technical schools, mainly focused on vocational educational training level and high school level.
Staff FORAVE´s team and staff are composed of teachers, trainers and experts from different fields related to vocational education and training with extensive experience in these fields.
With the participation in Shape the Future Teacher we aim to get important input on how to can maximize VET-education and meet other stakeholders´ needs, get the tools to improve our own policy and practices and to strengthen the relationships between European VET schools, companies and other stakeholders.
