The Lycée Clos MAIRE is a general, technical, and vocational secondary school, located in Burgundy, eastern part of France, 300 km South of Paris.
Every day, 100 teachers and administrative staff, 1000 pupils and students are working in our buildings.
Students (15-19) study scientific, literary, humanities and artistic fields for the general part; industrial (maintenance, eco-design, electrical engineering) for the technological and vocational part.
Thus, subjects such as French, foreign languages (English, German, Spanish), philosophy, Latin, history, geography, engineering sciences, biology, physics, chemistry, sports… are taught.
In addition to these streams, we welcome students studying tourism and preparing a BAC+2 level diploma.
The school is developing international openness and the fostering the learning of modern languages. Thus 4 European English sections have been created and more than a quarter of 2nd year students are part of these curriculums.
Over the years, international collaboration has been developed, starting with an exchange with the United States in the 1990s, followed by numerous trips and exchanges:
• exchanges with European countries: Germany, Sweden, Bulgaria.
• “global” exchanges between the United States and India.
• Trips to European countries are offered for students following a European course or studying Spanish, Latin IT ...
Since 2008, our Lycée has been involved in COMENIUS strategic partnerships (2 projects including one as coordinator) and ERASMUS+ (5 projects including one as coordinator) with 14 different European countries.
We also welcome European colleagues in job shadowing to discuss our teaching practices.
For all these efforts our school was awarded the “EUROSCOL label” in 2019.
About the ecological field, our school is working on developing the Eco-citizenship among our students. Several actions have been taken, collecting and recycling of course (paper, pencils, corks… composting and dehydrating food) but also trying to reduce our waste especially in our school canteen (reducing the portions for example). We also try to arrange our school buildings with an eco-friendly mind (using goats instead of moaning the loan, introducing bees…) and introduce ecology in our lessons.
For all these efforts our school was awarded the “EUROSCOL label” by the Burgundy government.
