GREECE - 1st Vocational High School of Kalampaka

  • 1st EPAL Kalampakas (1st Vocational High School of Kalampaka) is a Vocational and Training Institution in the city of Kalampaka, in central Greece. It serves the educational needs of young people who need to finish Secondary Vocational Education. There are approximately 35 teachers and 200 students of different age groups who have the opportunity to be trained in different fields of study like: Vehicle Technology, Electrical Engineering, Finance and Administration, Food Technology and Information Technology. The school provides students with two different titles: a Secondary Education Certificate and a Diploma of Specialisation (level 3) which offers them an acknowledged professional qualification for the labour market. The main focus of this institution is to prepare the students for the highly competitive field of the labour market. Since technical expertise alone is not enough for this demanding world they need to build and improve their social and learning skills in order to keep their job or develop a better prospect of employability.

The European development plan of the school for the period 2015- 2020 includes a number of learning activities for students and also for teachers to perform job shadowing activities and teaching assignments in partner schools abroad to get as much experience with innovating teaching methods as possible. The majority of our students come from rural areas and many of them are of low income.

The educational process at school includes a lot of activities, programmes and projects. We have experience with strategic partnership projects and with vocational training and educational projects In this project teachers will provide the students with real life learning contexts which will be an added value as there will be effective learning and transferability of knowledge and sharing of good practices.
Our school is situated in the area that is highly regarded as a major European touristic attraction especially due to the Meteora site – a geological, religious and cultural monument- included on the Unesco’s List of Cultural Heritage.
