    Dónde y cuándo naciste           Nací en Rotterdam el 27 de octubre de 1467, de madre llamada Margarita y mi padre Geert, que era un sacerdote de profesión, no me gustaba mucho hablar de mis orígenes dado precisamente la profesión de mi padre.        
    Dónde pasaste tu infancia  

    Hice los primeros estudios en Gouda y, aproximadamente en 1476, asistí a la escuela capitular de San Lebuinus en Deventer, donde aprendí sobre todo la lengua latina y la retórica. Esa escuela era tan bárbara para mí. Después de la muerte de mis padres en 1483 mi hermano y yo fuimos dados a nuestros tutores que nos enviaron a estudiar a una escuela de los Hermanos de la Vida Común en’s Hertogenbosch, luego regresamos a Gouda dos años después de una nueva epidemia de peste. Mi hermano Pieter se hizo fraile en el convento de Sión, cerca de Delft, y poco después, en 1487, entré en el convento agustino de Steyn, cerca de Gouda.

    		        
    A qué tipo de estudios te dedicaste    

    Cuando tenía 18 años entré en el monasterio de Emmaus de Steyn (cerca de Gouda) de los Canónigos Regulares de San Agustín. En 1488 hice la profesión religiosa y cuatro años después fui ordenado sacerdote. Poco después de mi ordenación, obtuve de mis superiores el permiso para trabajar como secretario del obispo de Cambrai, quien me dio una beca, hacia 1495, para estudiar teología en la Universidad de París.

    When I was 18 I entered the monastery of Emmaus de Steyn (near Gouda) of the Canons Regular of Saint Augustine. In 1488 I made my religious profession and four years later I was ordained a priest. Shortly after my ordination, I obtained permission from my superiors to work as secretary to the Bishop of Cambrai, who gave me a scholarship, around 1495, to study theology at the University of Paris.

    		      
    Qué idiomas conocías    

    Conocía varios idiomas: latín y griego clásico, en tiempos en los que el latín era la lengua de cultura universal,  Francés y español, desde que fui también a París y enseñé en Inglaterra. 

     I knew several languages: Latin and classical Greek, in times when Latin was the language of universal culture, French and Spanish, since I also went to Paris and taught in England.

    		      
    Adónde viajaste y por qué       Erasmus traveled to London between 1499 and 1500, where he had the opportunity to meet John Colet University of Oxford, who taught him many things about the life of Saint Paul among many other things, having a long conversation with him on how to make a truly humanistic reading of the Bible
