Imagine if all of us (teachers and students) lived in the same apartment building? A huge, sprawling building. We all have our own apartments, and we don’t need to put boring things in there like toilets or bathrooms because we already have all that on every floor!

What would your apartment look like? All students (and teacher) will have to explain what they have in their apartment. It’s 100 square metres (Like a decent house). The ceiling is high (making each room a cube of 10x10x10 metres, pretty huge! And that’s just from the outside, inside it can feel like a whole world! ). And anything goes! Is your apartment a jungle? No problem! Is it possible to fly in there? Sure! If you just want to explain what sort of furniture you would put in your dream home that’s ok too!

And then the real fun begins..

    The Project

The Tower Block is a creative writing project where all the students by writing create a world of their own using the Twinspace.

Then they will explore this world together using various writing and social activities. The point is to use THE WRITTEN WORD as much as possible. Sure, they can make pictures, models of their space if they want, but that’s just side activities. WRITING is the main point of the project.

The primary goal of the project is to develop the students’ English creative writing and communication skills. Each partner can do the activities that fit their curriculum, but everyone must DESIGN THEIR ROOM.

Each floor will have the same layout, something like this. Seven students on each floor, from as many different classes/project partners as possible. So if we have 35 students, 5 floors for example. We just add floors on top if more students join (or if I run the project next year:) )

Each student (or maybe two students live together? must decide what their space looks like. The idea is that they can let their imagination run wild. Each room is like a world, they make the rules! Go crazy, or just describe your dream apartment, your choice.

Then we really go to work..
