The Răut River has a length of 286 km and is fully encompassed in the territory of the Republic of Moldova, as the largest tributary of the Dniester river and, at the same time, the largest river that springs and flows entirely on the territory of Moldova. It also flows into my village Țarigrad and forms a beautiful meadow. In some regions, its water is used for drinking, household purposes, irrigation of gardens in the domestic sector, watering of domestic animals. On the Răut river are located cities Balti, Floresti and Orhei, with a wide range of economic activities, which consequently condition the state and quality of the river water. Near Orhei City the Raut River forms an amazing and beautiful path between some old Moldovan villages and old architectural vestiges from the Moldovan Middle Age.

Po riverThe Po is the longest river in Italy. It is a river that flows eastward across northern Italy starting from the Cottian Alps. The Po flows either 652 km (405 mi) or 682 km (424 mi) – considering the length of the Maira, a right bank tributary. The headwaters of the Po are a spring seeping from a stony hillside at Pian del Re, a flat place at the head of the Val Po under the northwest face of Monviso. The Po then extends along the 45th parallel north before ending at a delta projecting into the Adriatic Sea near Venice. It is characterized by its large discharge (several rivers over 1,000 km have a discharge inferior or equal to the Po). As a result of its characteristics, the river is subject to heavy flooding. Consequently, over half its length is controlled with argini, levees.
Some usefull tips to other students in this project to save water. Check your water taps and toilets for leaks. Limit your showers to the time it takes to soap up, wash down and rise off. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Use dishwasher for full loads only. Use washing machine only for full loads only. Quality and seasonal eating. Rearing animals for meat and dairy and harvesting crops like avocado at a large and unsustainable scale is incredibly water intensive. By cutting down on meat and dairy and eating seasonal vegetables you help to conserve water. Save water, money and energy by only boiling as many cups of water as you need. Steam your food to cut water usage and retain more of the natural nutrients. If you do boil, try using the leftover water as a tasty stock for soups.
Water Footprint Aquapath is a project which is funded by Erasmus and gives information about the water footprint and how to be aware of the use of water. It was very useful to discuss this network information in our lesson and we suggest it also to our project partner schools to share it with their students.
This powerpoint can be used for an education lesson about Water and gives a different view about the water situation in the world and the water footprint.
