    Shadow Theatre

    «WHY?»

Special Needs students and his teachers had created and performance an original story with the topic of Bullying.

Graphic Design students had created the visual characters and scnearios.

Music teacher was responsable for the audio/songs.

The play had been presented not only in our schools (from kindergarden to secondary) but also they went to others schools in our city and also in other cities, such as Lisbon.

"Why?" it's our fifth job. The question about what surrounds us is a way of learning, understanding and consolidating knowledge. In a relaxed way, we ask in this play of our shadow theater, why is there domestic violence, which often ends with the loss of human lives? Or what drives one person to attack another, physically and psychologically on an ongoing basis? These and other questions are the ones we will ask our audience at the end of each show. Over the years, we have learned a lot from the responses and the brainstorming at the end of each session.
We continue to count on the collaboration of those in charge of education, teachers, members of the community, operational assistants, psychologist at the resource center for inclusion, the theater group at the Santo André Secondary School, the art classes, the students who attend our school. atelier and the direction of our group. To all of them, thank you very much for your commitment and dedication from the first minute.

    «Urgently»

    Love is urgent.
A boat at sea is urgent.
it is urgent to destroy certain words.
    Hate, loneliness and cruelty,
    some regrets
    many swords.

It is urgent to invent joy,
    multiply the kisses, the harvests,
it is urgent to discover roses and rivers
    and clear mornings.

Silence falls on the shoulders and the light
    impure, until it hurts.
Love is urgent, it's urgent stay.

Eugénio de Andrade, See You Tomorrow, 1956

The great Portuguese writer, Eugénio de Andrade, wroted this poem in 1956 with the title «Urgently». We feel that after so many years, it is still very current.
Because it is urgent to alert the younger generations such asthe older ones. Because it is urgent to create empathy, respect and be friendly to others. Because it is urgent to respect the world that surrounds us and Nature. Because the problem of bullying cuts across all cycles and ages. Because is It is urgent to continue to promote a culture of non-violence. AESA organized the week "School without violence", which included
a diverse array of activities from May 24th to 28th.
Accept! Accept the difference, accept the right to each one to be as it is and every day try to be the best version of us themselves. We are all different and at the same time we are all equals. Each of us, on a daily basis, can make a difference, it can contribute to non-violence, both in the school, social and family environment, as in many other places. On the third day, symbolically designated as "Day Pink without Shock", designation adopted in Canada in 2007 by students who sympathized with a colleague who was humiliated for wearing a pink t-shirt to school, and also wearing pink clothes. Also the our faculty and students were invited to follow this example!

    MEETING THE WRITER André Fernandes

    «Let's Talking about Bullying»

In a testimony that captivated the students, André Fernandes said, "It is love that sets us apart!".
And he added: "It is in the present of the school that the presents of the future are prepared. Visit Quinta da Lomba School once again proved to me how fundamental it is to convert schools into stages of emotion. Times and times over and over, in the lectures I give, I find a youth eager to listen and share emotions. And times and over and over again I confirm what this path has taught me: without healed emotions, there will be no subjects taught. It has been like this in schools in the country I visit. It was like that at Quinta da Lomba School. One experience that I will remember with affection and gratitude."
