Our State Secondary school is situated in Premana, high in the mountains (1000m high), 30km form Como lake and 75km from Milan, the capital city of our region (Lombardia).

We are not so many, just 6 classes at the Secondary School and 10 classes of Primary School. The students who will take part in this project are form the 6th grade (10-11 years old) and they are the class of 21 pupils. They have just entered from the primary school grade and so, they are new for us! It's their 6th year of studying English but the level is basic, they are able to write 8-10 phrases about themselves, ask and reply simple questions and read and translate unknown texts with dictionary.

Premana is a little and very old town, full of traditions. It's an important industrial center of the region of Lecco, even if the inhabitants are only 3000people, in average there are 100 industries! We are producinig cutlery and scissors (40% of national export).

It's a country of artisans, still many items are hand-made.

There are strong catholic traditions and the festivities, the people speak Italian and the local dialect (mix of Latin, French and Spanish, due to the wars and occupation), the traditonal songs are very popular, local typical dish, too!

We hope to have fun in this project and discover other countries!
