24th December Belgium

  • Christmas Eve

The 24th of December is a working day. Most people go home earlier than normal to prepare the party. They decorate their tables very nicely with different things like: candles, coloured napkins… People also have a Christmas tree with Christmas balls and festoons in white, red, silver and gold.

In the evening, people come together to celebrate Christmas Eve with their family. They eat a lot of typical meals like: stuffed Christmas turkey, fondue, gourmet, foie gras, king crab and ice with chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

Christmas is a very important day for the Christians. They go to church at midnight to celebrate the birth of Jezus. It’s a special moment, everyone is friendly and kind to each other.

In our family, we come together at our grandparents' home. We usually eat gourmet. We give presents to each other, then we play a quiz and finally we go to bed after midnight
