The EB1/PE da Marinheira is a public primary school with pre-school located in the parish of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, Câmara de Lobos municipality. It is about 15km from Funchal, the capital of Madeira Island. The school was inaugurated in 1999 and currently serves 6 classes (two from the Pre-School and four from primary school). We are a full time school, meaning that students have curricular activities with only one teacher (Portuguese, mathematics, social studies, English, music, physical education) half of the day, and extracurricular activities (one teacher per activity) in the other half. 

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has its own teaching system, different from the rest of the country. The only thing in common is the curriculum. Just so, students can have access to a variety of extracurricular activities in school space.  Being located in a rural environment with weak expectations of future and disinterest in the school and its importance, we hope that this type of project can open horizons in our students and the surrounding community, by knowing other social and educational realities, besides collaborating with other students and teachers. We are an inclusive school, with a stable teaching staff, open to new experiences, with students from 3 to 11 years old. We participate in many regional projects of the Secretariat of Education of Madeira that cover various themes (arts, music, sport, safety, technology, learning, etc.). Our teachers are willing to participate in partnership projects for the exchange of good practices or for innovation.
