Fourth Student Mobility
Castellanza (Italy) May 2017
From the 1st to the 7th of May 2017, the fourth and last mobility of the Teaching Innovative Practices in STEM (TIPS) Erasmus+ KA219 Project took place in Castellanza (Italy):
The project has a two-year duration (2015-2017) and is based in the exchange of good STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) teaching practices among the following schools:
- Colegio Corazón de María - Gijon (Spain)
- Lycee Marguerite Yourcenar - Erstein (France)
- Sint Donatus Instituut - Merchtem (Belgium)
- Istituto Enrico Fermi - Castellanza (Italy)
During this week of the fourth mobility, seven students and two teachers from each of the partner schools stayed in Castellanza with their italian host families. The topic for this TIPS-week was sharing good practices on physics. All the activities that were carried out can be seen in the agenda of the mobility:
On the first day, after an ice-breaker, we were organized into six teams consisting of at least one teacher, one Belgian student, one French student, one Spanish student and three Italians. These cooperative groups, while competitive among them, would be maintained throughout the entire stay.
On the next morning three workshops were held in the school: a webquest about the biography of Leonardo Da Vinci, a lecture about the history of flight and a physics workshop. Then a guided tour of Castellanza and a reception by the mayor followed by a tour of the University.
The second day we went to Milan. We began with a visit to the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum where we attended several workshops followed by a guided tour of the city in the 6 previously mentioned groups. On this occasion, two Italian students from each group were responsible for explaining each of the relevant points of the visit. In the afternoon, we attended an interactive exhibition on Leonardo Da Vinci.
On the third day we went to Volandia in the morning and in the afternoon we meet again for a visit to the Castle of Legnano followed by an invitation to a dinner by the italian school, in the Maniero of San Bernardino. It is worth mentioning the exclusivity of having been received in this place.
On the fourth day we arrived to the Aeropark of Calcinate. Both the surroundings and the proximity, and clarity in the explanations made this an awesome experience for all the people involved. In the afternoon we had a walk to Sacro Monte de Varese Sanctuary.
The fifth and last day, Saturday, we were invited to take part in the day of sports activities. At night, we had a farewell party and informal dinner at school for students, teachers and parents.
Here are some of the materials produced by the Italian students to organise the tours and visits during the mobility in Castellanza:
In this padlet, some images that summarize this great experience can be seen:
We highly value the italian mobility. It could be summarized in four words: science, culture, linguistic immersion and coexistence. Congratulations to our Italian colleagues for the great work done.
