In Sienkiewicz High School we can meet a lot of teenagers who are interested in various sports and have been practising them for many years. Yet, we decided to carry out an interview with only three of the talented youths who agreed to talk about their passion for karate, professional dance and football.

One of them is Krystian. He is 18 years old and has been training karate for 6 years. He started practising it when he was 12 years old and since then he can boast of many exciting prizes. When we asked him the questions what encouraged him to take up sport and why it was karate, he told us that he wanted to keep fit and for that reason he started to train one of the martial arts. Krystian once saw a poster with information about karate and just wanted to try this sport.

Doing karate takes a lot of time and dedication.  He trains minimum three times a week. What’s more, he sometimes goes running. His preparations to competitions usually start two months before. His greatest achievement so far has been the second place in the International Competitions in Serbia and the third place in the Cup of Poland. He has a brown karate belt which in karate language is called 2 kyu. In addition, Krystian is developing his skills and techniques  all the time, which brings him new karate titles.

We asked Krystian what he has achieved thanks to karate. He told us that he met a lot of trustworthy and helpful people he can always rely on in hard situations. Moreover, karate has built his character and taught him humility, respect for older ones and determination in pursuing his goals. Therefore, Krystianis is planning his future having karate in mind.

Another amazingly talented person in our school is Przemek. He is 18 years old and holds the highest ‘A-title’in Latin American dances in Poland. Up to now he has received many prestigious awards. Yet, he says that his greatest accomplishment so far has been the 5th place in the ‘Prof. Marian Wieczysty Cup National Dance Competition ’ in Kraków  where 38 dance couples presented all kinds of dances. Przemek started to train dancing when he was only 7 years old. He decided to enroll in dance classes in kindergarden and found it extremely enjoyable. He trains 4 times a week even on Saturdays and prepares to different tournaments by dancing ‘staminas’ that means dancing 5 dances in a row. One day Przemek wants to open a dance school and teach kids like his mentor. He also told us that dancing taught him self-discipline, respect for other people and humility as he doesn’t always win.

The last person who deserves our consideration is Kuba. He’s 18 years old as well but he plays football. He took up the sport when he was 15 years old mainly because it was his family tradition. He and his ‘Szydłowianka’ team were to get to the ‘Mazowiecka’ ligue. Of course, they made it. He trains football 7 - 10 hours a week and sometimes even more. He thinks that every person who belongs to any sports club may fulfill one’s dreams of becoming a professional player. Kuba told us that football made him modest and humble. It shaped his character and taught him never to give up and give it all.

It seems that our school can boast about having  really talented young people with lots of impressive achievements. We should be very proud of them and support them in their pursuits as well.
