Lenka´s testimony

  • Hola a todos! Last year I had the oportunity to visit my dream country for two months – Spain. I was very excited about the mobility but also very nervous because two months are long enough without my family and friends. Julka, who is the another exchange student from my school, and I arrived to Zaragoza at 17:00 (one hour later than we had planned) because we'd had some problems with our bus. Then we went home with our „new family“. There I met Diana for the first time and she introduced me to her older sister and her niece. The family was very nice to me and they took great care of me. I tasted lots of typical spanish meals and I have to say, I am in love with their food, especially with churros and „jamón“ (spanish ham). I was very suprised when I could not find normal bread or baguete in supermarkets. But I really love their version of bread, which is like a really big baguete. Ok Lenka , stop talking about food . When I was in the city I compared life there with my life in Slovakia. The culture was similar, but also very different from Slovakia. I realized people in Slovakia, compared with the Spanish, do not enjoy life enough and just work hard to have a feeling that they will have a better life and do not know how to live in the moment. One day when Julka and I did not go to school, we went for breakfast to the restaurant ( called „panadería“ or „cafetería“) and we saw lots of old people just enjoying their coffee, reading newspapers. But I couldn't blame them. If all the breakfast menus in Slovakia cost only 2€, I would eat at restaurants every day:D.

I visited many places with Diana, her family and also with her friends from Softcombat ( if you want to know what it is, find it on the internet ). We were in Pyrenees for two days in the cute, small village in the mountains, also we visited the other side of the Pyrenees in France. The following weekend we went for the day-trip to Peníscola and there we visited very interesting castle and then Diana and me were dipping our feet in the sea. One of my last trips was the one to the waterfalls „Monasterio de Piedra“ which I absolutely loved.

And the last part, the worst part - the school... Haha, I'm just kidding ( am I?)... My first days at school were a little bit stresfull and tiring because the school system was different. For me it was not very easy because they learnt something else than what I was learning back home. Their classes were 50 minutes long and the breaks lasted just 5 minutes. We spent lots of time in the school library doing homework for our school in Slovakia. My favourite place in the school was school bufet with the best bakery products I have ever eaten. And this is me almost all the time in the school.

I think these two months in Spain gave me lots of good and useful experiences for my life and I can recommend it to everyone.
