Julia´s testimony

  • Hi, I’m Júlia Škrková and approximately a year ago I travelled to Spain and lived there for two months. It was a challenge and I really enjoyed it.

My exchange family was waiting for me at the station in Zaragoza when we (Lenka, my schoolmate) arrived. They took me home and Darío, who was my exchange brother showed me my room and introduced me to his grandparents. I felt very well in my host family. They were all kind and welcoming. I enjoyed the traditional Spanish food too and I got used to their eating habits really fast. To be honest I liked every meal Darío's mom prepared. They showed me many places  in Zaragoza and Darío's sister Lucia took me to Barcelona and we went sightseeing. I had a very good time there. They also encouraged me to work out. I went to a sports centre there. And I loved it. I could go swimming or to the gym whenever I wanted.

The school system in Spain is a bit different. In Slovakia the classes are shorter and the breaks are longer. Their classes were 50 minutes long and the breaks were only 5. It doesn’t sound so bad but I felt tired after the whole day. They also have a long break to eat but they can’t stay in classrooms. I liked that they can choose subjects that they like for example I attended one class which was called dibujo técnico. It was like an architecture drawing. And I found it very interesting.

I enjoyed this mobility so much and I'm very thankful for this opportunity. I’m happy I could participate in a project like this and that I could meet new people and make friends.
