    The Lower Secondary School « Petrarca – Padre Pio » is located in San Severo, Apulia, in the South of Italy. It is the result of two schools. Today there are 100 teachers for 800 students. Our school  is called “Petrarca – P.Pio”. Students start our school when they are 10/11 and leave when they are 12/13. It’s an average-sized state school with 37 classes of nearly 25 students (about 900 students in total). Our school is divided into 2 buildings. The first building is called as “Petrarca” where there is the headmaster’s office and the secretariat. The second one is called “Padre Pio”. All the two buildings are surrounded by a beautiful garden with plants and trees. We study Italian, Geography, History, Maths, Science, Technology, Music, Art, RE and PE. We also study two foreign languages: English and French. In the afternoon we do lots of extra-curricular activities, such as sport, computer club, Erasmus project. Our school is specialized in music. Students can learn to play a musical instruments, such as piano, guitar, clarinet, sax and trumpet.We go to school from Monday to Saturday, from 8.25 to 1.25 p.m. 

    The Library

    Here you can borrow books, watch videos, do some research. It’s full of books and there are also some cups won by my school in different contests and competitions. Table and chairs let us to attend lessons here comfortably.

    The Foreign language lab

    We use it during French and English lessons. In this school we study English three times a week and French twice. We watch videos and do some exercises on the computer. We also surf the net and do some research.

    Gym

    It’s really big and we can do lots of sports. We play rugby, volleyball and basketball. We do gymnastics here twice a week.

     

    The main hall

    It’s the biggest room in our school. We have meetings, conferences and shows. There’s a wide stage where we perform concerts, dramas as well as dances. We watch movies, too.

    Headmaster’s room

    Our headmaster receives parents, teachers and students, of course. She’s so kind with us and she always tries to deal with our problems.

    Secretary room

    In this room the staff works for us. Our personal files are stored in cabinets.

    The teachers’ lounge

    Teachers meet here, they have a rest after lessons or prepare new activities. They also meet parents here. In the bookcases, our tests are stored in these blue boxes. There is a copying machine and a PC for teachers, too.

    Multimedia lab

    In this room, we can do lots of activities thanks to an interactive smart board. Tables and chairs let us follow lessons comfortably.

    Science lab

    Our science lab is quite big. We do lots of experiments with interesting and strange things. There are microscopes and a skeleton, too. On the walls there are scientific posters. The cabinets keep all the scientific instruments and tools necessary for experiments.

    Music: our passion

    Some musical instruments are shown on the walls. We love music and some students learn to play a musical instruments. They can choose among guitar, piano, trumpet, saxophone and clarinet. They do special lessons in the afternoon.

    The garden and our greenhouse

    In our garden we grow up a lot of local plants and trees, too. Our technology teacher built the greenhouse.

    RadioMEDIA

    It’s in the library room and the radio broadcast in streaming news from our school and town. In turn, students become journalist for a day.
