  • BELGIUM - our school presentation

    GO! basisschool De Springplank

GO! De Springplank is located in the suburbs of the city Maaseik (Limburg) – In the heart of the rural village Neeroeteren. We have 215 from 2,5 to 11 years old children in classes of approx 18 children. Most of our children live in owner-occupied housing close to the school. We have a number of children on the special needs register (20%) and a small number of children (20%) who speak languages other than Dutch in their homes. We are very keen to establish partnerships with schools in Europe so that our children extend their cultural awareness further. We would like to explore the possibility of involving children in developing their English language throughout the communication by eTwinning platform with their coleagues from other schools in the future and consequently, a partnership within Europe means this is more feasible. We already teach French from age 10 and are very keen to expose our children to other European languages. We have a broad and balanced curriculum and are consistently looking for opportunities to enable our children to work creatively across the curriculum. This partnership and this project in particular will allow us to do so since there will be many opportunities to work across the curriculum. This partnership will invite our children, teachers, parents, grand-parents and local community all to participate in the project to intercultural/international dialogue. We hope to disseminate our cultural heritage through our partnership. The key persons in charge of running the project will be the headmaster and the Erasmus–task-force, consisting of teachers and parents. This Erasmus-task-force : 2 teachers from kindergarten an 3 teachers from primary school. This is to ensure the implementation and dessimination from the project, even if some of the teachers would leave the school or will be absent for a longer period of time. From the year 2005 to 2012 our school was very active in the Comenius-program. We were partners in 2 projects and even coordinated 1 project. After 2012 we took a break from international projects. We implemented the gained skills in our daily curriculum. Now the time is right to get involved with “renewed desire” in a new international project, where we can disseminate our skills and gain new ones for the benefit of our children and school. Another reason is that due to changes of staff some of our new colleagues didn’t had the chance till now to be involved in an international project and are eager to learn, exchange and implement new ways of teaching children with international perspective. All classes from children aged 2,5 till 11 will be involved in the project.

    POLAND

Szkola Podstawowa nr1 im.kpt. Leonida Teligi

Primary School no 1 is situated in a new western part of a small town Ustka which is a tourist resort at the Baltic Sea. There are 50 teachers and 502 students at the age from 6 to 14. Our school is characterized by a very good relationship between community groups, friendly atmosphere for all, mutual respect, maintaining traditions and respect for national symbols. The school helps students to believe in themselves, motivates to work, fairly assesses and delivers a high quality of teaching. The school takes into account the needs of all students, including those gifted and less able. Moreover, it helps students to discover and develop their talents, promotes their achievements and offers a widevariety of compulsory and optional tasks. Our school is safe and caring space where no child is anonymous. Every employee takes careful consideration of our students. We have a psychologist, a school therapist and a speech therapist. They co-operate with all teachers and parents. They also help to overcome students' problems and work efficiently with children with special needs like ADHD, autism, dyslexia, reading defect, sight or hearing problems. We would like to involve these children in the project in as many innovative ways as possible. The key person in charge of running the project will be the English teacher. However, all our school staff- especially other English, ICT, Science, Geography, Maths, History, Art and D.T. teachers are experienced in European projects (5 Comenius and Erasmus+ projects). Other teachers, who will be the key people in charge of running the project are English and ICT teachers. Our motivation to work on this project is broad involvement in ICT work at school, a professional staff that has been developing ICT and students who learn the basics of programming from the first grade, e.g. using the Scratch language. We want to involve in the project as many children, parents and local authorities as possible. We won the title “The school is open to multiculturalism” and we are involved in the competition called “We are digitally secure school” in which children use English and ICT skills. We would like to implement research, innovation
and ICT for presentation of a topic in a new project. We would also like to share knowledge with students from different countries and exchange information on different topics and we are open to almost every subject. We have very well- equipped Language and ICT labs at school that allow our students to communicate with partners involved in the project. What’s important that all our children learn English language from the age of 6. Most of them also learn German. Our school has a new,
very well-equipped Science lab, a big gym, a modern playground with a sports field. All of these make our school possible to work on wide variety of topics and subjects. We are able to create a movie, a website, a blog, an e- book, an album or an app through which we would present our given subject to the others.

    SPAIN

    C.P. MIGUEL PINILLA

The last ones attend especially our children with special needs: we have children with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or reading and writing defects. At the moment we are involved in a healthy school project in which all the community takes part (teachers, students, parents and local authorities) and we also have a programme about our local heritage and another one about ICT. We have a new ICT lab that all our students use. The parents association has organised an extracurricular class"robotic" in the afternoons and a lot of students are attending it. The key person in charge of running the project will be the headmaster, but all the staff, children, parents and local authorities will be involved in the project. We have had experience in European projects (Comenius and Erasmus+) and in all of them,
as in all our projects, the whole school community is involved. We have many skills and much to contribute to everything that the projectc can involve: movie, website, blogs, books or albums. In our school we love to do big books for the "book week" we celebrate every year in April. We know we can do an excellent one on new project. Our new ICT lab is a great opportunity to create a project website. Our city, Almansa, and our country are full of places, buildings, literature, festivities. We greatly look forward to sharing these treasures with our European partners. So, we would like to be
involved in any project related to these topics.

    PORTUGAL

O Jardim do Fraldinhas Ensino Pré - Escolar
    Creche e Tempos Livres Lda

O Jardim do Fraldinhas is a Pré- School and a primary school. We have children from the age of four months to 10 years old. So, our levels of education are nursery, pré-school and primary school. At the moment we have 240 children in the school and 45 people on staff. Teachers , helpers, psychologists, nurses etc. We want to join this project because it is a great opportunity to develop our knowledge about other countries, but the most important goal is to exchange innovative ICT technics we all can use to teach children. It is a tool which provide us learning about methods used in other schools and it is a great opportunity to develop our practice as professionals involved in education. It´s very important for the professionals involved in education to understand the process of education in general, and realize were they are as a professional, and were they are as a important part of an organization, a college, a school, public or privet. What can I do better, what can I teach to my colleges, what can I change in my school. It's possible to change the way I teach? So many important
questions that we must do as professionals, and we should share with the others. So for us the Erasmus projects is a unique possibility to live these experiences, the develop our skills, to improve our methods and become more and more aware. Develop the education senses is develop the future of education. Its time to embrace the change, and give our children a new approach. They need to participate in their education process, they must have a voice, ad if we became better teachers, better education professionals. The key people involved, education professionals, will be the
headmaster, the children, the teachers, the psychologists and the parents in the first place, but the objective is to be able to involve all the school community. There will be many people involved, so if someone leaves the project will continue without problems. We have the support of the city hall and the tourism of the center of Portugal. We have children with special needs in our school, autism, paralysis, learning difficulties, dyslexia, and we want these children to be important participants in this project.
