Petkim Latife Hanım Primary School is located in the city center of İzmir, Turkey. İzmir is in the west coast. It is the 3rd biggest city and modern city of Turkey. Our school has 836 students, 80 immigrant students (mostly Syrians) 47 teachers, 32 classes, 6 kindergarden and 2 classes for special needed students. The students are between 6 and 10 years of ages. During 4 years education, we aim to develop students' personal and professional skills. The curriculum includes the study of English,Maths, Science, Social Studies, Art, History, Music, etc. As Mathematics is difficult for students dueto some abstract concepts, we believe that participating in this project will help our teachers to cope with this situation. Besides school lessons, there are always different courses, workshops and sports activities after the school(such as: chess, mental games, English courses, volleyball, football,basketball, folk dances, etc) Teachers take part in those activities. The school has a lot of success both in local and national levels in many kinds of sports branches and have won many cups. The students and the teachers are eager to take part in projects, different types of workshops, trips and events. ERASMUS+ Projects have been always warmly welcomed both in and around the school. Learning different languages, cultures and traditions are the main attractions. School Assistant Manager is the responsible person of the projects as she has had a great number of project experiences. The English teachers and the project team, formed by some primary school teachers,lead the school for each steps of a project. They make the organisations, plannings and declarations.
The school has been involved into several national and international projects.One of the most important of these projects was a Comenius Project named "Euro Kids Discovering Europe With Time" with England, Ireland, Greece, France, Finland and Spain. The second one was an Erasmus+ Project named "Embracing Differences Under The Umbrella Of Tolerance" with Greece, Spain, Poland, Latvia and Germany. Etwinning projects are also very important for the school.
