Hello people in Austria ! Let's talk about a sustainable christmas in Reunion Island.
Firstly, here, Xmas is happening in summer, so it's very hot and we don't need any heating and we make a lot of energy saving. Then, our christmas tree can be made with driftwood, a local plant or an old one to be more sustainable. We also can reuse our christmas decorations.
For christmas, our highschool organized a gift collect, we can give clothes, old toys and books, for children in Madagascar.
Finaly, our christmas' symbols aren't snowmen or real christmas trees but lychees and "Flamboyant", a big tree with red flowers. During christmas, in Reunion Island, we spend a lot of time with our family.
What about your christmas and your tradition ?

Hello!!
First, happy new year, lots of good things and may our correspondence continue! We hope you had a great time!
Now, let's talk about our Christmas! Most of us tried to make some efforts by trying to reduce our consumption or by re-using the christmas tree, but we have to admit sometimes it is difficult to resist: presents, the good food,... are a huge part of Christmas.
For the bravest, making your own food with organic products (from the market or even better, the garden) saves you from buying plastic packaging.
What is sad is that the weather is super hot which make sit difficult to feel the Christmas spirit. But at the same time, it is really convenient because we can enjoy the beaches, swimming pools,...
Of course, the best part is that we have a month and a half of holidays!
We can't wait to hear about what you do for Christmas in Austria!
Have a lovely day,
Mickaël, Baptiste O, Leeloo, Léna, Mathis B and Justine.
Hi everyone ! I hope that everything is okay for you and that you had a good Xmas Eve.
Here, we tried to make our cristmas more sustainable.
Like every years, someones reuse their old cristmas trees made by cardboard or by real wood in order to not buy plastic or a new cristmas tree, so to limit our consumption. Moreover, some people reuse their old cristmas decorations or decide to buy it to little producers and not to big factories... That's a good thing for our local economy wich pollute maybe less than big factories.
Now, let's talk about the Cristmas meal ! It is complicated to have a sustainable cristmas meal because it is a important moment when families eat good things. But we can also make some efforts. For exemple, we can limit our consumption of "foie gras" wich has a bad impact on duck's treatments or buy glass bottles instead of buy plastic bottles. There are so many possibilities.
For the present's packaging, we can reuse older packages or make it with things wich can be recycle like old news papers. Finally, cristmas' period is the period when we receive a lottttt of ads. So we can fix on our letter box a sticker "STOP NO ADS" (stop pub) to reduce the consumption of papers wich are very useless !
But what about your cristmas ? Is it sustainable ?
Have a good day ;)
Mathis, Camille, Carmen and Raphael.
Hello!
I hope everything is fine for you. And that this year start with good news.
In Reunion we celebrate Christmas in the 24 december night, and at 12pm we open the present. And for sure we recelebrate it the 25.
The last year the high school's program was a collect. There is a group of people who worked about it. So, all the students could give something that he didn't use anymore, and after the high school give all at a association.
It's complicated to do a sustainable christmas, with packaging, meal(it's the period where we eat more, and we scared to take few kilograms). We reuse the same christmas tree every years, it's positive no?
But we can do more, like solar light and for the decoration use the object we have already at house, cause it's the decoration of the last year, or may be if you are a good handyman make it yourself.
If you have more idea i can't wait to know it!
