Hello everyone, as our classmates did, we're going to present you another graph illustrating poverty in Reunion.
This graph is a bar chart illustrating standards of living in euros per AU (account units), according to different deciles, in Reunion Island compared to those in mainland France. The blue bars are associated with mainland France and the purple ones, with Reunion. The red line depicts the poverty line in France, in general (including overseas territories).
We can clearly notice that Reunion Island’s standards of living are always underneath mainland France’s (no matter which decile studied) .
First of all, looking at the first decile, we can underline that the 10% poorest people in Reunion have a standard of living of 586,93 euros/AU within a month. However, in that same decile in mailand France, people’s standard of living is a bit higher: 874,83 euros/AU within a month. Yet, both of mainland France and Reunion don’t overtake the poverty line in that decile.
Then, in the third decile, Reunion’s standard of living is still below the poverty line (852,92 euros/AU within a month) while mainland France’s one is way above it: 1 300 euros/AU within a month.
Finally ,in the last decile (the 10% richest), above poverty line, we can emphasize a 150 euros difference between mainland France’s standard of living and Reunion’s (respectively 2 946,04 euros/AU against 2 789,94 euros/AU within a month).
We can conclude that the French country is a very unequal territory. Indeed, overseas territories, such as Reunion Island, are dealing with poverty. 30% of the population are living below the poverty line, while in mainland France, only the 10% poorest are.

Here is another interpretation of the same graph by a different group:
This bar chart shows the difference between the standards of living of people in euros per AU (Account Units) in Reunion compared to the France’s ones by deciles. We can see that for the first decile, 10% of the poorest people in Reunion have a standard of living of 585 euros per AU whereas the France’s one is of 875 euros per AU. From the first to the fourth decile, the standard of living in Reunion is less than or equal to the poverty line, whereas the standard of living in France is higher than this poverty line since the second decile. Then, from the fifth to the ninth decile, the standards of living in Reunion and in France are always higher than the poverty line. However, we can see that the standard of living in France is higher than the Reunion’s one regardless of the decile. Finally, if we look at the last decile, we can see that 10% of the richest have a standard of living of 2790 per AU in Reunion and this number is of 2950 euros in France.

Hi everyone! We are going to compare poverty in Reunion Island and mainland France.
In this bar chart, which underlines the poverty in Mainland France compared to Reunion Island, we can see the real gap between the two. Reunion Island's standard of living is much lower than that of mainland France. In fact, when there’s approximately 20% of unemployment rate in Mainland France, there is 60 % in Reunion Island. Also the percentage of people living under the poverty line in 2017 is more than 35 % in Reunion compared to 13% in France. Finally, as there is around 28% of unemployment rate in our region, there’s less than 10% in Mainland France. Investing in the fight against poverty could be part of the solution.
To conclude, we saw trough this graph that we have to do a real work on poverty in Réunion. With a little bit of time and will, the rate could decrease and inequalities could be reduced.

Hey an other graph:
This graph compares the standard of living beteween Mainland France and Reunion Island during the year 2014. The graph has been divided in parts call decile (D1 to D9) representing each 10% of the population. A poverty line, representing people that have less than 1000 € per month, has been drown.
Globally, we can see that for every decile, the standard of living in Reunion Island is lower than in Mainland France from 15 to 30%. The biggest gap between Mainland France and Reunion Island if for the fifth decile, that is to say the "middle", and the smallest for the D9, so the richest people.
More significatively, we can observe that only 10% of Mainland France's population have a standard of living under 1000 € in comparison to 40% for Reunion Island's population.
We can conclude that poverty is much more an issue in Reunion Island, knowing that prices are even higher for a lot of products of current consumption.
