The French students created this tiny handbook style for reasons of dissemination in the context of the project.
Everything started the Peloponnese,in in Greece, some 3,000 years ago. Sports competitions were organised at Olympia and were named after their location, hence their name of “Olympic” Games. Nobody knows exactly when they began, but the first written mention of them dates back to 776 BC
For the long jump, stone or metal halteres (weights) were used, of various shapes. The event was probably made up of five consecutive standing jumps, which required harmony of movement and a sense of rhythm. To help with rhythm, a flute player was often present. Such figures are often represented on vases, next to the long-jumpers
On October 2020 students of level 4 try the antic way to jump and think about the particularity of the jump with halteres
We made differents jump to test and understand the new challenge!
We made vidéos to make an analysis of this activity in Physics subject ( measure of trajectory, angle, length...)
With the halteres , do we jump longer ?
What are the difficulties to jump with the halteres?
What is the perfect angle when you take off?
Lengh of Hans's jump: 2.92 m
The most difficult thing is to synchronize the movement of arms and legs, you need to propulse yourself with the legs when the arms are forward.
You need to coordonate the swing of the arms and the pushing of the legs.
Second time : The modern Long Jump with elan race: New questions:
- Why are we going longer with the approach?
- Witch speed to performed ?
- what are the differences of angle , trajectory and lengh ?
Lengh of Han's jump: 4.96 m
The objective of the approach is to gradually accelerate to a maximum controlled speed at takeoff. The greater the velocity, or speed, at takeoff, the higher and longer the trajectory of the center of mass will be.
The objective of the takeoff is to create a vertical impulse through the athlete’s center of gravity while maintaining balance and control
The Long Jump athlete is a very complete personn: he has to combine Speed, Strengh and Agility !!
