At the invitation of the National Olympic Academy, Greek students of 8th and 9th grade attended the lighting ceremony of the Olympic Flame of the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games to be hosted in Lausanne starting on January 9th 2020, in the Panathinaiko Stadium.

Students who participate in the project were split in groups to take pictures and videos for reasons of dissemination concerning the Olympic spirit. They, mainly, used their smartphones for taking pictures and used web toolsof their choice to make collage of pictures to be uploaded on the internet.

The material produced by the students was used for the lesson of Physical Education, not only for sport purposes but for cultural, too.

The flags of the Olympic Games, Greece and Switzerland paraded under the sound of the Olympic anthem by the philharmonic orchestra of the city of Athens.

Before any Olympic torch relay, the torch lighting ceremony is a symbolic event.

As in the ancient Olympics, with the use of a mirror and through the rays of the sun, the Olympic torch ignites and will continue to burn until the opening ceremony of the Games.
