Good practice tasks to prepare a mobility abroad

  • Before a mobility, all the students in the Erasmus TV international Clubs need to feel part of the experience regardless of the fact of travelling and participating from the mobility directly, because, unfortunately, not all the students in the clubs can travel abroad. However, our experience confirms that all the students and the whole educational community enjoy the covering of the event on the social media, and benefit from their peers' experiences and testimonials.

Moreover, when we come back from a mobility, we bring typical food, products and souvenirs from the school and country we have visited, and both students and teachers love it. We also ask travelling students to prepare a presentation for their peers and tell them about the experience in first person.

Returning to the motivating activities prior to the mobility, it is important to devote one or two sessions to learn everything about the country we are about to visit.

Therefore, what the Spanish Erasmus TV International Club proposed before the mobilites in Livorno (Italy) and Viana do Castelo (Portugal) was dividing all the aspects of identity, society, and geography of these partner countries and ask each student in the club to prepare one different aspect of these countries and make an illustrative video on the topic they were assigned.

These are the instructions for both tasks "Everything about Italy" or "Let's Learn Everything about Italy" and "Everything about Portugal" or "Let's learn everything about Portugal".

On these Padlets below, the reader will be able to appreciate the students' videos on each topic.

Another possibility not implying making a video, would be to ask students to prepare a 2-minute presentation on the topic assigned and present it in front of their peers if the session is face-to-face.

Another excellent tool to prepare the cultural background of students before a mobility by playing and competing is Kahoot!

Students love it and learn a lot from partner countries. We have used kahoot! in various occasions. These are some of our favourite project kahoots on culture.
