Playing board games
In January 2020, we played board games printed in the course book Smiles 2 by Express Publishing. The 1st and 2nd grade students don’t read or write in these grades, as they are still in the process of learning the Roman alphabet.
The students brought dice. The teacher divided them in groups of three or four. They played the board game following the simple rules of the Ludo game. We also had a tournament in which each group winner played for the 1st prize of the whole class.
The pictures on the board game showed what the students are to say when they stand on a particular field. This was a revision game, i.e. the students revised the words and expressions they learned in the first semester.
The students found the game amusing and were really excited. The better ones helped other if they couldn't think how to say the thing presented in the picture. Peer learning always finds its way :)
