    WORK PROCESS AND TIMELINE

The Project will be developed weekly within the Foreign Language (ENGLISH) sessions and at home.

STEP 1 Let’s get to know each other

    11th-17th March

-2 weeks for introductions (or just 1 week I f we wanted to begin later and give some homework for Easter holidays)

Individually, in class or as homework

    in the forum

They’ll write a short introduction about them and add photos or avatars in their profiles (we’ll give them a model to follow with the points to include, name, age, interests, …depending on students’ level of language they can be more or less sophisticated texts)

    18th  -24th  March

Individually, in class or as homework

in the forum (and chat if we could)

They read the posts in the forum and reply to at least 2 students from the other school

STEP 2 Let’s assess our diet.

    25th-31st March

    Individually

    In class or at home

    -       The students make a menu noting the food they usually eat in a day. Later, they value if their daily diet is adequate or not with the help of the nutritional pyramid.

    -       Then they see a PPT presentation and answer the questions that are asked about The "eatwell" plate (which is similar to the pyramid but with a different approach). This second part could be done as homework if we are short of time.

STEP 3. We design a new menu

    1st-7th  April

    In class

    In pairs

We watch 3 videos and design a new menu for a day following the video directions.

Video 1: "The Food Pyramid", which explains the basic properties of food and which type of food should be included in our menu in a greater or smaller amount.

Video 2: "10 heathy food swaps ..." teaches how to change 10 typical "snacks" for healthier ones.

Video 3: "20 Healthy Food Swaps" teaches 20 easy changes when it comes to cooking or choosing foods to create our new menu.

    STEP 4 Reflect and compare

    8th-14th April

    Transnational groups/pairs

We can use Chat in Twinspace (depending on our schedules and technology resources at our schools)

    -       After watching the videos and using some sample questions that we have passed on to the students previously, they use the chat/Skype to talk about it with the students from their school and the students from the other one.

    -       We reflect and compare eating habits of the other country's partners. The questions are asked and the answers are written down.

Homework for Easter holidays using Google Drive

    15th-22nd April

    In national pairs

    In the forum

    -        They write a short text with their conclusions about differences and similarities in both countries and post it in the forum.

    -       They read the other posts and give some comments to at least 2 posts.

Step 5. We create a weekly menu

    23rd -28th   April

    Individually

    In class/home

With the help of the online application Eatthismuch.com, http://www.pepperplate.com/menus/ or any other (or with no app) they will design their weekly healthy menu.

Step 6. Presentation of our weekly menu

    29th-5th April/ May

    Individually

    In class/home

The presentation of the weekly menu can be done using spreadsheets (excel) or with another similar tool to the student's choice. They can also design their menu with text or images (they can take pictures of real food to make it more exciting) or by mixing both.

    STEP 7 COMPARE AND MERGE

    6th -12th May

    Individually

    At home

    -       We will share our menus in a page /padlet (screenshot or photo) or any other resource where we can vote later the best ones from both countries.

    -       We will vote for the best menu (using padlet or any other resource).

    -       The best menu will be used as the main image in our project!!!

    13th- 19th May

    Transnational pairs

We can use Chat in Twinspace (depending on our schedules and technology resources at our schools)

    -       We will compare the winning menus (and the others if we have time) and try to merge all that we can with the international group our finished menus using the chat in Twinspace.

    STEP 8 Assessment

    31st-2nd May /June

    Individually

    At home

They fill in a Google form about the project

The families will have a short form to fill in too.

The teachers will publish the menus in a magazine/book using issuu or bookcreator.
