C2.2-What are going to do?

  • During the meeting in Greece we will focus on marine organisms, their ecology and their interest for us humans, but also on the threats their populations are facing today.

We will present our region of Volos and Pelion.

We will present the endangered species of each partner region.

We will have several workshops on creating artworks with marine materials (shells, pebbles, driftwood, etc.). We will also have a workshop on drawing and mandala technique, all related to marine motifs. We will vote for the best one.

We will also visit the Experimental Science Centre (EKFE) of Magnesia in Volos. Evaluation of salinity in seawater samples from the different regions participating in the project. We will also analyse how salinity and other abiotic factors (e.g. temperature, water pressure) affect marine organisms.

Visit of Achilleio and the local Sea Museum, introducing the topic of taxonomy of marine invertebrates. Another place to visit:  Afissos for the collection of marine material.

There will be visits to the Orthodox monastery of Panagia Xenia and the village of Milies.

In order to carry out the activities described above, the students will be divided into groups. Each group will have a representative from each country and their host. They will have to work as a team, share the work to be done, draw their conclusions and present them to the rest of the participants at the end of the activity.
