The conference timing
Friday 5 June
Check-in time at the NCTL is from 1500 on Friday 5 June. If you are arriving early, the NCTL will be able to store your luggage until your room is available.
Registration for the conference will be from 1830 onwards in the Central Atrium at the NCTL. You will be given your name badge with your relevant UK region highlighted by colour; please use this to locate fellow teachers in your region. You will also be given your delegate bag (which will include your delegate pack).
Between 1830 and 1915 there will be a drinks reception in the Central Atrium.
The welcome and opening dinner will be from 1915 until 2100 in the conference centre restaurant.
A pay bar at NCTL will remain open for delegates on Friday night until 2300.
The dress code for dinner is smart/casual. Please see the seating plan outside the restaurant where we will group tables by region for the dinner.
If you have any particular dietary requirements and did not include them when you registered online, please email Debbie Candy.
NB. If you have dietary requirements (vegetarian, nut allergy, gluten-free etc.), please make yourself known to the waiting staff who will have a specific dinner for you if you have advised us of this requirement in advance.
For those arriving later than 1915, a hot meal will still be available, but please ensure that you make your way to the restaurant as soon as possible. Please notify the reception staff that you are part of the eTwinning party when you arrive and they will let you know the arrangements for your dinner.
Saturday 6 June
Please note that we may be live streaming some of the conference sessions. If you do not wish to be filmed or photographed, please email Debbie Candy.
Conference day one, Saturday 6 June from 0900 until 1700 (with exhibition time from 1700-1800).
In the evening there will be a drinks reception at 1800 followed by dinner at 1915 and the awards ceremony at 2030 for the UK Quality Label and UK National eTwinning Awards. After the awards ceremony there will be a DJ and pay bar in the Central Atrium. The bar will stay open until midnight.
Dress code for the dinner and awards ceremony is smart/casual.
Sunday 7 June
On Sunday the check-out time is 0900. Please check-out before you go to the conference sessions. The NCTL will be able to store your luggage until your departure. Unfortunately we are unable to offer a late check-out.
The conference sessions begin at 0915 and will be followed by a buffet lunch at 1230. You will be given the option to take a packed lunch if you would prefer this. Please click here to indicate your choice.
Accommodation is at the conference venue. All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries. You may also make local and national phone calls free of charge, but international calls are barred from all telephones within the venue.
There is a small gym available to participants for the duration of the conference.
All rooms are non-smoking.
There is an internet hub with four computers for delegates to use on the first floor of the centre. If you choose to access the internet via your own laptop, there is free WiFi availability throughout the centre. However, the number of devices trying to access the WiFi at the same time can reach in excess of 80 and inevitably the speed can be affected. The venue uses WiFi hotspots as it is very large and spread over three floors. As you move around the building you will need to login to different hotspots. You should also keep in mind that after one hour of inactivity the WiFi will automatically log you out.
Please note that the British Council will reimburse reasonable transport costs for all UK participants, on provision of a completed expenses claim form and receipts. Unfortunately due to European Commission travel regulations we are not able to reimburse any first class travel.
We would appreciate it if you could purchase your tickets as soon as possible in order to keep the travel costs to a minimum. When purchasing train tickets, please also purchase the £2.00 train insurance option, in case for any reason you are unable to travel. This will ensure that you will be able to reclaim the cost of your tickets, as we would not be able to refund your travel costs at the British Council if you are unable to attend.
If your journey is likely to be in excess of £200.00 please contact Debbie Candy before you purchase your ticket.
Getting to the NCTL
We expect all delegates to make their own arrangements for arrival at the conference venue.
Please follow this link for information on how to get to the NCTL. If you wish to take a taxi from the station to the venue, please share it with at least two other people. There is a google document where you can communicate with other delegates about arrival/departure times to and from Nottingham station and lift sharing arrangements. Please share your details and liaise with your colleagues to travel together. If you are travelling to and from East Midlands airport please use this link to make your taxi travel arrangements from the airport.
We will send you the programme two weeks prior to the event.
If you have any queries about the joining instructions, please email Debbie Candy or telephone
